Analisa
Ever lost a relationship? Remember how it started to change. The long uncomfortable silences. The decrease of affection. Feeling more comfortable in a group than alone together. You both pretend nothing is wrong but you know something is.

Slip slidin' away

Slip slidin' away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away

The thing is I am desperate to keep this relationship. It's more than life to me. Yet, I can act like, well I can take it or leave it at times. I toss out a hello and say I know we need to talk. Tomorrow. I'll try tomorrow.

Slip slidin' away
God only knows

God makes his plan
The information's unavailable
To the mortal man
We work our jobs
Collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway
When in fact we're slip slidin' away --Paul Simon

But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.-- Revelation 2:4

In relationship God reveals his plans for me. In relationship I find hope, love and peace. So why is it when  I take that unbiased  look at how I spend my time it screams of my indifference. I find I take advantage because I know He will be there.  I toss out a hello,  forgive me for not spending more time with you today. I know I need to read and pray. Lord I feel the distance I've caused. I make excuses and go to bed without returning the call on my soul. See I kept thinking God understands. But understanding and knowing are two different things. He knows why I do what I do and makes no exceptions for it in scripture.

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.--Revelation 3:15-16

See I somehow manage  to watch, a movie, or favorite TV show. I go to work and sometimes cut short lunch or stay a little later to finish a task. I find time to talk to friends and family. Time to go shop and eat out.

The thing is God won't say you must read, you must pray, you must worship. No, but He clearly knows our need to. I need God. You need God. We need God. We need that close abiding relationship with Him. God should never take seond place to anything in our lives.

Slip sliding away.

God uses marriage as his example. He is the bridegroom we are the bride. Like any good relationship it requires effort and time. If you have neglected your relationship with God go back to your first love today. Start there and he will lead you to all the rest.

"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.-- Matthew 6:33

You are so right. It is a concentrated effort to stay close-from our side, anyway. I know God never leaves. Thanks for that wake up call. Have a great week.

  2. Oh, I've missed coming by here--- are you going to put a "subscribe to my blog" thing up? I'd love love it if you did - having blog posts sent direct to my email is the best thing ever- it reminds me and prompts me and ...etc ....

Nice to come by and say hello to you....

  3. Analisa, It's so easy to take our marriage partner for granted and the next thing you know it slip slided away. The same goes with our relationship to God. It takes a daily effort.

    God bless you ~Ron
